Our expertise staff offer a variety of free mental health trainings that might help you or someone you know.

Trainings are open to all and can be customized to your business, church, or community group. They can be offered in-person or virtually.

Topics can include:

CALM: Counseling on Access to Lethal Means

This 2-hour training teaches reducing access to lethal means, such as firearms and medication, which can determine whether a person at-risk for suicide lives or dies. This free course focuses on how to reduce access to the methods people use to kill themselves. It covers how to: (1) identify people who could benefit from lethal means counseling, (2) ask about their access to lethal methods, and (3) work with them—and their families—to reduce access.

ASK: Ask About Suicide

The 2-hour program provides participants with an overview of the basic epidemiology of suicide and suicidal behavior, including risk and protective factors. Participants are trained to recognize warning signs—behaviors and characteristics that might indicate elevated risk for suicidal behavior—and how to intervene with a person they think might be at risk for suicide. ASK stands for Ask about suicide, Seek more information and keep safe, Know where and how to refer.

Military Cultural Competency

The Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) Military Cultural Competency Training establishes a general understanding of military service and the many challenges faced by service members, veterans, and their families. After training, individuals serve as MVPN volunteers to help service members, veterans, and their family members.
