Leslie Catlett, LCSW, graduated from Texas State University in 2019 with a Masters in Social Work. She also holds an MA in quantitative sociology from the University of California Los Angeles. Leslie has experience working with adolescents and adults, specializing in issues related to trauma, depression, anxiety, family dynamics, and parenting. Leslie’s clinical approach is rooted in the neurobiology of trauma, or simply, how our minds and bodies communicate with each other, particularly during times of real or perceived threat. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, polyvagal theory, and mindfulness practice to promote clients’ awareness of their thoughts and feelings. She works to build their abilities to regulate distress and reframe self-defeating thinking. Leslie has specialized training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy, and structural dissociation to treat complex trauma. She welcomes working with families to develop communication strategies that validate and empower family members, ultimately building a protective factor that can reduce the risk of future victimization. Additionally, Leslie enjoys working with clients who have processed their trauma and are ready to explore long-term goals for personal growth.
